Is it worth what it costs?

A five dollar gold coin that is smaller then a dime, sells for over 200 dollars.  Is that coin worth that much?  People are buying them and there is over 38000 on the market.  Irregardless of base value, if people are willing to pay the price, to them it is worth the cost.  Things are worth whatever someone is willing to pay for them.  Taking this one step further, the more something costs the more it is valued.  I climbed a mountain once, it took most of the day.  Finally I reached the top.  I was tired, sore and scratched up.  I was also exhilarated as I looked down at the valley and what I had overcome to get there.  There was a road on the other side of the mountain that arrived at the same physical destination. I am sure I would not have appreciated the view nearly as much from the road.  Some people might think the added perspective of the climb was not worth the effort.  I think the whole point of the view was the experience of getting there.  Like the finish line of a race, the whole point of the destination is the means by which you get there.  How much we are willing to sacrifice and pay for something determines what it is worth.  Looking back on my life some things I've paid to much for and others I would have paid much more.
